Hair grows slowest at night. It's growth speeds up in the morning, slows down in the afternoon, and speeds back up again in the evening! Hair also grows faster in the summer than winter, due to the persperation on your head.

The thigh bone is largest by volume and the longest and strongest in the human body. It is stronger than concrete.

You're born with 300 bones, but by the time you become an adult they have fused to only 206.

Did You Know....

I thought I'd share a little bit of info on those pesty, nasy, blood sucking, West Nile virus bugs:
Mosquitoes are attracted to the color blue twice as much as to any other color. Also, the female is the only one that bites!

Did You Know...

A blue whale can grow as long as 3 Greyhound buses and heavier than 35 elephants. Its tongue alone is the size of a small car and weighs as much as an elephant. While immense, a blue whale’s heart beats only nine times per minute. Yet blue whales can also produce extreme sounds of more than ’185 decibels nearly twice as loud as a jumbo jet at takeoff.

Did You Know...

Never squash a wasp that has stung you. Upon being crushed, it will release a chemical that becomes airborne; this signals guard wasps to come and sting whatever gets in their way.

Did You Know...?

Anacondas live near rivers, lakes and swamps.
Snakes do not have eyelids, so even when they’re asleep they cannot close their eyes. But they do have a protective layer of clear scales, called brille, over their eyes.
Anacondas give birth to live young, around 24-35 at a time.

This is not an Anaconda, but it's close enough (for me), this is my neighbor a.k.a. "the new snake hunter" and he "rescued" it from a car about to flatten it. I said don't do me any favors like that again. He said it was coming out of my woods into the street. My house is the one in the picture, see our woods! Now I am even looking closer when I water the tomatoes and flowers!

Did You Know...

In 1857 toilet paper was invented by Joseph C. Gayetty of New York City.

(and I thought of having Jayde do this but didn't want to teach her bad habit's, she can figure this out on her own time)

The average person has about 10,000 taste buds and they're replaced every 2 weeks or so. But as a person ages, some of those taste cells don't get replaced. An older person may only have 5,000 working taste buds. That's why certain foods may taste stronger to a child than an adult. Smoking ("they say") also can reduce the number of taste buds a person has.

This is a copy of the first telephone "book" ever issued, it contained only 50 names, and was a single page. It was published in New Haven, Connecticut, by the New Haven District Telephone Company in February 1878.

A dolphin produces notes 100 times higher than the highest note a human soprano can reach even in the shower?!

Ostriches are such fast runners, they can outrun a horse. Male ostriches can also roar like a lion.

The crocodile does not chew its food, but swallows it whole. It carries several pounds of small stones in its stomach to aid in grinding up and digesting its nourishment.

Useless Info...Tiger Sharks, DID YOU KNOW

In the upper right hand side is a box that contains "useless info" but I wanted to make this one a special post it said that embryo tiger sharks fight and the sole survivor is born. Now that's some sibling rivalry. Is that what they call "fighting for your life"?
